2. Product Description

Insulation grade refers to the heat-resistant class of insulation materials used in motor (or transformer) windings. The insulation materials commonly used in motors and transformers divided into A,E,B, F and H. The insulation material of each insulation grade has corresponding limit working temperature (the temperature of the hottest spot of motor or transformer winding). When the motor or transformer is running, the temperature of the hottest spot of the winding shall not exceed the provisions in below table, otherwise it will cause accelerated aging of insulating materials and shorten the service life of the motor or transformer. If the temperature exceeds the allowable value a lot, the insulation will be damaged and the motor or transformer will be burned.

UPGM203 (GPO-3) sheet is composed of high grade unsaturated polyester resin (UP) in connection with a reinforcement of glass mats,is then pressed under high temperature to obtain a F grade heat-resistance working temperature .

1. What kind of fiberglass mat does UPGM203(GPO-3)sheet use?

A: The fiberglass mat have fiberglass chopped strand mat and fiberglass continuous strand mat.Fiberglass continuous strand mat takes continuous glass fiber strand as the main raw material. This kind of non-woven continuous strand mat containing insoluble binder can be compatible with unsaturated polyester, epoxy, phenolic and polyurethane resins in non filled or filled resin systems. The products can be used in resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum molding, pultrusion molding and other processing processes. Fiberglass chopped strand mat is made of fiberglass chopped strand bonded by powder or lotion binder. Chopped felt is mainly used to process FRP products through hand paste molding process, winding molding process and molding process. Typical products include sanitary ware, pipes, building materials, automobiles, furniture, cooling towers and other FRP products.UPGM203(GPO-3)sheet use Fiberglass continuous strand mat.

3. What does F Class refer to?

A: It indicates the maximum allowable working temperature of the insulating structure, and at such temperature, it can maintain its performance within the predetermined service life. Although there are allowable high values, there should also be an actual reference value in actual work.


4. Can we change the working temperature F Class to H Class of UPGM203(GPO-3)sheet?

A: No,we can not.The maximum allowable working temperature is determined by the material properties.if we want to change to a higher temperature,unsaturated resin should be changed.


5. Why can UPGM203(GPO-3)temperature resistance only reach grade F class?

A:Unsaturated polyester resin is a thermosetting resin, which can be solidified into an insoluble polymer network polymer under the action of heat or initiator.Unsaturated polyester mix with fiberglass is an anisotropic material. Under the action of stress, the metal is generally divided into two stages: elastic deformation and plastic deformation. Under the action of stress,UPGM203 generally has no significant plastic deformation stage, no yield point, delamination in the process of stress, and is easy to break suddenly under overload. Secondly, the modulus of UPGM203 is low, which is 10 times worse than that of steel. Therefore, products with high rigidity requirements must be carefully designed. Third, the heat resistance of UPGM203 is much different from that of metal materials. So far, the long-term service temperature of UPGM203 is only F class.


6. What is the problem with exceeding the maximum temperature limit?

A: When the motor or transformer is running, the temperature of the hottest spot of the winding shall not exceed maximum allowable working temperature, otherwise it will cause accelerated aging of insulating materials and shorten the service life of the motor or transformer; If the temperature exceeds the allowable value a lot, the insulation will be damaged and the motor or transformer will be burned..
