Apricot Power Amygdalin B-17 500 mg. - 90 Capsules

Apricot Power Amygdalin B-17 500 mg. is a glycoside initially isolated from the seeds of the tree Prunus dulcis, also known as bitter almonds. Several other related species in the genus of Prunus, including apricot (Prunus armeniaca) and black cherry (Prunus serotina), also contain amygdalin. Amygdalin is a plant compound that contains sugar and produces cyanide. Amygdalin is found in the pits of many fruits and in raw nuts. It is also found in other plants such as lima beans, clover, and sorghum. Amygdalin is extracted from almond or apricot kernel cake by boiling in ethanol; on evaporation of the solution and the addition of diethyl ether, amygdalin is precipitated as white minute crystals.

B17, also referred to as Amygdalin comes from extracting natural B17 from apricot kernels. B17 occurs in abundance in nature and is bitter to the taste. In man's attempt to improve taste for his own pleasure, he has eliminated bitter substances like B17 by selection and cross-breeding. As a general rule many of the foods that have been domesticated still contain vitamin B17 in that part not eaten by modern man, such as the seeds in apricots.

B17 Found in Hundreds of Foods!
In addition to apricot seeds, B17 is found in wild blackberries, wild cranberries, elderberries, apply seeds, cherry seeds, nectarine seeds, peach seeds, pear seeds, plum seeds, prune seeds, fava, bamboo, alfalfa, eucalyptus and cassava. Other foods that contain lesser amounts of B17 are boysenberries, huckleberries, raspberries, strawberries, squash seeds, black beans, black eyed peas, lentils, lima beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, cashews, macadamia nuts, spinach, watercress, sweet potatoes and yams.

What is B17?
Vitamin B17 was the name given to the purified form of Amygdalin by a biochemist named Ernst T Krebs in 1952. It is a non-toxic natural product found in over 1,000 foods. Today Amygdalin is extracted from apricot seeds/kernels.

How much B17 (Amygdalin) is in each apricot kernel?
Approximately 10mg of B17 (Amygdalin) is found in each apricot kernel.

How much B17 should I take daily?
Quantities vary from person to person depending on their needs. Research all products before consumption. Consult your naturopath, homeopathic physician, kinesiologist or physician of choice. As with apricot kernels, always start with a small amount and slow move to a higher amount if desired.

B17/Amygdalin in Concentrated Form
Many of Apricot Power's customers request a higher dose of B17, for those they suggest their concentrated form in tablets or capsules in 100 mg or 500 mg.

Why is B17 Important?
Apricot Power believes that a balanced diet is essential to a healthy life. Few of us consume enough vitamins and minerals from the foods we eat. Vitamin supplements become necessary for optimal body function. B17 is just one of the many vitamins the body needs.

Are There Side Effects?
Some people experience subtle side effects when first consuming apricot kernels, due in part because most people don't regularly eat foods rich in B17. Side effects (headache or dizziness) that may occur are temporary and act as a signal that you're consuming too much B17 at one time. Monitor your body as you
